My Fair Lady is a musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The story, based on George Bernard Shaw’s 1913 play Pygmalion and on the 1938 film adaptation of the play, concerns Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from professor Henry Higgins, a phonetician, so that she may pass as a lady. Despite his cynical nature and difficulty understanding women, Higgins grows attached to her. The musical’s 1956 Broadway production was a notable critical and popular success, winning six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It set a record for the longest run of any musical on Broadway up to that time and was followed by a hit London production. Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews starred in both productions. Many revivals have followed, and the 1964 film version won the Academy Award for Best Picture. 🎭We’re a super-friendly society and are always keen to see new faces at auditions, so why not come along – it might just change your life! 🎭 Directed and choreographed by Adam Bunting-Smith, assisted by Jo Flay, with Musical Director Lesley Olivia van Egmond

We found you for the first time last year. Fiddler on the roof. Oh my word, what a fantastic show! Still smile about that evening to this day 😀.
Really enjoyed 'Merrily' - knew nothing about it - a very interesting show and I imagine not an easy one to learn - tricky songs. Clever idea going back in time and I loved 'Our Time'. Well done all.
Gloriously camp, and provocative, Mel Brooks’ smash-hit musical, ‘The Producers’, was everything it promised to be.On a typically chilly night in Battle the musical directed by (Bob Murray) brought us all the glitz, glamour, and sleaze of New York’s Broadway to Battle.
BLOG had pulled the stops out with their production of The Drowsy Chaperone, which is a musical within a musical. The story is related by “Man in Chair” who loves musical theatre and particularly his record of the fictional 1928 production of Drowsy. As he plays it the show comes alive in his living room whilst he wryly comments on the music, the story and the actors.
Battle’s ‘Fiddler On The Roof’ an evening of great music between the lines of the poignant script this production in the roun d truly included the audience in the action. With an amazing twinkle Tevye spoke to us creating an atmosphere of melancholy but with humour too. A n e xtremely well cast of strong characters, with beautiful harmony and wonderful costumes. Chorus movement so well timed kept the continuity flowing. Exc ellent throughout.
